Geometry is all about shapes and their properties. Geometry can be divided into two parts, plane Geometry and solid geometry. Solid Geometry is about three dimensional (3D) objects like cubes, cuboid, pyramid, sphere, cylinder, cone and prism. Solid geometry online tutoring can be done from the comfort of home and is a great supplemental or remedial help. A lot of online tutoring sites also offer help with geometry homework and assignment making it much easier for you to get your class assignments done on time.

## Solid Figures

Solid Geometry is the geometry of three-dimensional space. It is called three-dimensional, or 3D because there are three dimensions; width, depth and height. Solids have properties like volume and surface area. Solid geometry deals with the measurements of volumes of various solid figures including cube, cuboid, cylinder, circular cone, pyramid, sphere, and prisms.

Let us discuss some solid figures:

1. Cube:

Surface Area of the Cube = 6 a2

Volume of the Cube = a3

where 'a' is the length of the side of each edge of the cube.

2. Cylinder

Surface Area of a Cylinder = 2 $\pi$ r2 + 2 $\pi$ r h = 2$\pi$r(r + h).

Volume of the Cylinder = $\pi$r2 h.

where 'r' is the radius and 'h' is the height of the cylinder.

3. Cone

Surface area of Cone = $\pi$rs + $\pi$r2 . where s = $\sqrt{h^2 + r^2}$.

Volume of Cone = $\frac{1}{3}$$\pi$r2 h.

where r is radius, h is height and s is slant height of the cone.

4. Sphere

Surface area of Sphere = 4$\pi$r2

Volume of Sphere = $\frac{4}{3}$ $\pi$r3

where 'r' is the radius of the sphere.
